The aim of the operation is the development, construction and experimental verification under field conditions of a prototype system for the selective control of pests in oilseed rape plantations and the safety of beneficial insects, in particular bees. This prototype will be based on agricultural machinery specially modified for this purpose: a field sprayer and a tractor. As a result of the project, it is anticipated that the use of insecticides will be reduced on the farms involved in the project, resulting in, among other things, a reduction in the toxin content of rapeseed and honey extracted from the apiary located in the immediate vicinity. Description of project activities: The project is divided into three stages. In the first stage, a prototype research system will be built to record field data - pests and bees. The project is divided into three stages. In the first stage, a prototype research system for recording field data - pests and bees - will be built. This system will be suspended from the front linkage of an agricultural tractor and its main components will be an adjustable boom carrier, cameras and recording systems with a user interface. In this stage, objects such as strawberries, pimples and bees will be recorded. In the second stage of the operation, a prototype of a selective pest control system will be built with implemented algorithms for their recognition. At the same time, starting from rapeseed emergence (September 2023), work will continue with the use of the prototype research system to record the remaining field data - images of e.g. the rapeseed flea beetle and the weevil. In the third stage of the operation, the built prototype of the selective pest control and bee protection system will be verified - the experiments will take place during the period of the strawberry flea beetle and the pimple beetle raid. At the same time, the prototype will be supplemented with algorithms for the recognition of other pests (flea beetle, weevil). In this phase, an artificial plantation will also be prepared with imitation pests and bees, in particular the rapeseed flea beetle and the weevil. Experiments will be carried out to verify the correct functioning of the prototype system for all objects (pests, bees).

The direct benefits for participating farmers are a reduction in the cost of insecticide use in oilseed rape plantations, the offering of a product (oilseed rape seed) of improved quality and electronic assurance of the presence of beneficial insects. An additional benefit is the receipt of a system that will be continuously improved and developed, also based on suggestions from operators.
