The main goal of the project is to create a collection of biological material unique on a global scale, enriched with genetic and phenotypic and functional data of valuable breeders, by developing an innovative approach to the collection and use of genetic resources in the created Bank of Biological Materials, as well as developing a concept and creating a mobile laboratory for efficient collection and evaluation of biological material from outstanding breeders at their place of residence.

Establishment of a mobile andrology laboratory, development and production of a prototype of an innovative mobile semen collection and preservation station, will allow independent access to the stallion's station and collection of semen, which, in conditions of constant and appropriate temperature for the procedure, can be assessed immediately after obtaining it. Additionally, on the basis of the assessment performed, the laboratory will be pre-qualified for maintenance. Only selected ejaculates will be frozen, which will be useful for insemination of mares after thawing. It should be emphasized that this is an innovative stage, because the created prototype of a mobile andrology laboratory will be the first such technological solution used in horse breeding in our country. Establishment of the Biological Materials Bank, which will include the Semen Bank and the Gene Bank. In the case of semen, a computer-assisted assessment of sperm motility (CASA) will be performed, allowing the determination of sperm quality parameters regarding both their motility and morphology. Based on the blood, the karyotype, the isolated DNA and the marked DNA markers will be determined. The creation of a globally unique collection of isolated biological material enriched with genetic information, in conjunction with the assessment of phenotypic value, will enable the creation of an innovative repository that can, on the one hand, protect biodiversity, but also significantly contribute to the development of knowledge about the studied population.
