The aim of the operation is to develop and implement a regionally and nationally innovative monitoring and agro-meteorological system and operational irrigation scheduling on the farms of the members of the operational group located in Kujawy. The system will be used to support decision-making regarding agrotechnical work on the farm, in particular irrigation (when to irrigate, how much to irrigate). The results generated by the system will be representative for the area of Kuyavia, inter alia, thanks to the use of a network of local agro-meteorological stations and agro-soil maps for monitoring. An added value will be the use of short-term meteorological forecasts to estimate current irrigation needs. The main tasks will be the development of an agro-meteorological monitoring module with a database, an operational irrigation planning module and the integration of these modules into a single system. The work will be carried out using mathematical modelling and IT techniques. The de

The results of the operation will contribute to improved planning of the timing and doses of water taken for irrigation. The developed system for agro-meteorological monitoring and forecasting as well as operational irrigation planning will be an innovative advisory tool for supporting agro-technical works, in particular irrigation, on the farm. Applied to the farms of the members of the operational group, the system will enable increased production efficiency and water use efficiency of selected field crops, optimisation of yield and reduction of the risk of yield losses due to meteorological and soil drought. After successful testing on fields in the farms selected for the operation, it will be possible to apply the system on a larger spatial scale - in the Kujawy region and the entire Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodeship. The creation of a system to support decision-making, including the irrigation of field crops, will facilitate comprehensive farm management in the future. Moreover, the system will be a new advisory tool, the use of which will allow farmers to improve their current crop production practices. Farmers who already use irrigation will be able to manage water resources including groundwater more rationally. Avoiding excessive and unnecessary irrigation rates will reduce the migration of nitrates (from fertilisers) to groundwater and surface water. The use of the system can be one of the measures to adapt to and mitigate the effects of adverse climate change (droughts, increasing trend of air temperature changes). The knowledge and experience gained during the implementation of the operation by all members of the operational group can be used by other producers and stakeholders in the Kujawy region and even in the wider area.
