The implemented project will contribute to improving the phytosanitary quality of seed-potatoes, which will increase the profitability of production and expand exports by farms. The individual project results are: - a new ecological product - a healthy seed-potato free of pathogen, - a new method of storing seed-potatoes based on the use of new organic biopreparations for seed-potatoes treatment: natural products of microbial origin and plant ingredients, fully characterized in terms of species, chemical composition and activity against potato phytopathogens and a pilot installation prototype taking into account such parameters as: humidity, temperature, light exposure. - the use of ecological biopreparations for potato treatment in exchange for currently used fungicides and insecticides, which are characterized by poor biodegradability and when introduced into the soil, disturb its microbiocenosis system, contribute to the restoration of biological balance and protection of the natural environment. - the use of a new innovative storage installation is a solution that reduces the effects of climate changes (increasing the temperature in autumn and winter seasons), which contribute to the development of diseases and cause economic losses in potato cultivation, - the prototype of the pilot installation is a ready solution for small and medium-sized farms where seed-potatoes are stored by traditional methods (e.g. in mounds), often in the same places infected by phytopathogens. In the future, technologies and a prototype of a pilot installation may become the basis for developing similar solutions, but on a larger scale, important for large-scale manufacturers.
The project results will be conducive to streamlining production methods, reducing losses, and thus improving cost efficiency, and will contribute to improving the economic calculation of naturally grown different varieties of potatoes. They will therefore be conducive to maintaining and strengthening biodiversity by facilitating the maintenance of various potato species. The new methods will create a marketing message directed to the surroundings, which will aim to familiarize with the qualities of naturally grown heterogeneous potatoes.
