The direct goal of the operation is to develop an innovative method for the production and evaluation of bull semen in terms of its use to obtain embryos of a specific sex by in vitro breeding of embryos in two representative breeds of dairy and beef cows most often bred in Poland. This method will make it possible to introduce favorable changes in the reproduction process in cattle breeding herds on farms.

Obtaining sexed semen by developing and implementing an innovative method of sexing the semen of bulls of the two most frequently bred breeds in Poland (HF and Limousine), in order to use it for in vitro fertilization. Development and implementation of the assessment of the correct parameters of the movement of the spermatozoa obtained, the expression of sperm quality genes in semen and the determination of the sperm's ability to in vitro fertilize an egg, and pre-implantation development of the embryo, semen sexed before and after cryopreservation.

The operation concerns farms where cattle are raised (both dairy and beef breeds). In Poland, breeding herds are maintained on over 200,000 farms. The following breeds of cattle are most often bred in Poland: Holstein-Friesian (HF; milk production), Limousine (meat production). Breeders striving to improve the genetic value of their herds, both dairy and beef, try to speed up the breeding process by using available breeding biotechniques. Artificial insemination of cows is commonly used in Poland, especially in dairy herds. The project planned by the operational group for innovation „BYCZA KROWA” will significantly improve the management and development of cattle herds on farms. The method planned to be developed and implemented on a farm will multiply the number of offspring from the best bulls. Embryotransfer and in vitro culture of embryos are methods that make it possible to multiply the reproductive potential of females, as well as to produce offspring only from the genetically be

Conducting trainings and presentations for other cattle breeders on the benefits of using sexed semen in breeding practice. These activities will be carried out using a vehicle with reproductive technologies equipment, which is an important means of achieving the objectives of farms - genetic progress in cattle breeding. Training and presentations will be held during agricultural fairs, harvest festivals, etc. These activities will contribute to the dissemination of a modern method of breeding herds in Poland. It is planned to disseminate the result of the project on the website of the operational group for innovation „BYCZA KROWA”, as well as publication by people involved in the project (outside the operation, after its completion).
